On September 2, the Medical Experimental Center solemnly held the 2024 Annual National Natural Science Foundation Summary and Commendation Conference as well as the 2025 Application Mobilization Meeting. Deputy Director Yang Hongjun of the China Academy of Traditional Chinese Medicine, Deputy Director Yang Yang of the Research Department, Assistant Director of the Medical Experimental Center, Director Fan Xinrong of the Medical Experimental Center, Secretary Jú Dàhóng, and Deputy Directors Tang Dānlì and Yuán Yuán along with all staff and postdoctoral researchers from the Medical Experimental Center attended the meeting, which was chaired by Deputy Director Yuán Yuán. Deputy Director Yang Hongjun first extended his heartfelt congratulations to the Medical Experimental Center for its outstanding achievements in National Natural Science Foundation applications, and fully affirmed the "collective mobilization, centralized tutoring, and individual refinement" work strategy adopted by the center. He pointed out that this meeting is not only a summary and review of the 2024 Annual National Natural Science Foundation application work but also a planning and deployment for the upcoming year's application work. In terms of project application management, it is essential to maintain the continuity and efficiency of work processes, forming a mechanism of continuous advancement and seamless handover. The number of National Natural Science Foundation projects secured is an important reflection of a unit's collective innovation capability. Researchers at the Medical Experimental Center should focus on steadily enhancing their research capabilities and long-term development to achieve a leap in overall research innovation capabilities.
Director Fan Xinrong conducted a systematic summary of the Medical Experimental Center's 2024 Annual National Natural Science Foundation application work, pointing out that this year saw new highs in several aspects including the number of projects applied for (40 items), application rate (85%), funded amount (2.86 million yuan), and successful applications for面上 projects (4 items). Among this year's 7 successful projects, 4 were孵化 from the center's "Fund Cultivation Special Project," and 2 were孵化 from the "Challenge List Hanging General" project, accounting for approximately 86%. Currently, among the 33 funded "Fund Cultivation Special Projects," 13 individuals have successfully secured 14 National Natural Science Foundation projects, representing a proportion of 39.4%, fully demonstrating that autonomous topic selection at the Medical Experimental Center has played a significant supporting role. The center requires all researchers to actively participate in next year's application work; the Science and Technology Department should make early plans; laboratory directors, graduate supervisors, and postdoctoral合作 supervisors should set an example.
