The Discipline of New Technologies and Methods for Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) was established in 2021. As an exemplary integration of TCM and cutting-edge interdisciplinary fields, it aims to address major scientific challenges in the development of TCM by introducing and applying innovative technologies and approaches. It focuses on the interdisciplinary integration between TCM and basic disciplines such as physics, chemistry and mathematics, as well as applied disciplines including materials science, information science and engineering. The discipline strives to expand academic boundaries, develop new technical equipment, and advance fundamental research, clinical application research and the transformation and innovation of research achievements in TCM. It has been listed as a key discipline under the Science and Technology Innovation Project of the China Academy of Chinese Medical Sciences.
